I Crave You

Pour me something stronger
Help me out of this water
Lay my burdens to rest
Lord help me confess
I'm a child that grew up to fast
So don't over-react
When we love back to back to back

Skin on skin on skin
Here we go again
I crave you
I crave
I crave you

Caress me with your words and
Taint me with your body
Your heart is what I yearn
But your mind is too confusing
Write a story within the lines
Push me away
Means hold me tight

Skin on skin on skin
Here we go again
I crave you
I crave you
I crave you

I give you what you want
cause' it makes you want me
you're the cause and the cure for the wounds that I bleed
Sometimes I love you
and sometimes I wish
you'd look me in the eyes and haunt me with desire
Deep
Deep down
I know
it's just
Skin on skin on skin
Here we go again
I crave you
I crave you
I crave you

telepathy

If I learn to walk again
Take me where I've been
Go to Heaven for my sins

I've gone through this the hard way
and they all say
Just pretend

I was never on my own
Never had a chance to grow
A young heart and an old soul

Crashing down from your touch
You know me so well
So call my bluff
I shot down the sight of your gun
You pull the trigger still I don't run
I was taught that when things get rough
to stick around and pray for luck

Be still
the darkness will pass
Light will come
But it won't last

I tried to leave but this telepathy
Got the best of me
Now I'm gone

Dim the lights
Close my eyes
Got to be loved one more time

falling in love with a fantasy.

I tell myself that I don't miss you, but rather the idea of you. Let's face it, no person can compete with a fantasy, which has made it increasingly difficult to move on. I like who I am when I am with you. That is when I feel the most at home. It is not as if I miss you, but like you are missing from me. Without you I am scared. Which is strange because I did not know it was possible to miss someone who meant so much to me when I meant nothing in comparison. You know what is really, really, hard? It is hard knowing you. Knowing your smile and your laugh and your life and you looks and your hug and scent and family and heart and seeing how you can change in a moments notice to please others. See, that's the thing. You sacrifice yourself to please others when I want you to be yourself to please me. But I am too selfish to change for any one person. It is hard admitting when you're wrong. For me to admit that I really don't know you all too well, and I have spent most of my life wishing I could. Knowing you rarely showed the part of you that I loved, and you never have seen the part of me that I really love, because when I'm with you, I change into a person that I think you'd like to see. I care so much. I love you so much. It's one thing if you'd love me or hare me, but just not to care, to be indifferent? Luckily for me I can re-write history, and conveniently erase the parts where you hurt me and elaborate on those which made me love you in a way that I didn't think was possible. You didn't even know you hurt me, and I was too shy to tell you. It scares me, the thought of loving you, but even more than that, is the thought of not loving you. What would my heart do? One day you will see. I don't understand why, but I will stand by you always. You are my friend and I love that. Friendship is hard to come by and easy to lose. I value you, I value us. Not in the way I thought I wanted. But how would we work, anyway? I get so nervous being around you because knowing that I could care about someone so much makes me scared to lose you. No, no, no, no. It is not you. It is the idea of you. I mean, how could you ever love me the way I love you, when I can't put into words or a measurement how much I love you in the first place? See, it's a fantasy, you just add a name, and a face, and in some cases, you fulfill it. But it's NOT you. I can't be you. I won't allow it to be you! It's just the idea of you.

far from me.

I was always taught that love was a place
but my home's in your heart
and you're so far away
I picture me years from now
Quiet voice, soul is loud
I wonder if you'll ever need
anything from me
How did we get to this place?
Where time disappears in a blink
and life's a race, no time to think?
Always trying to heal hearts
that don't know their broken
I've misspoken yet again
If I leave soon enough
Maybe you'll miss me
You were wrong
You needed me all along
So I'll run
Far away
Find a new home
Someplace temporary
you probably don't even care
who I am anymore than me
Yet, here I am on my knee's
wishing, praying, begging, pleading
Well, at least I've got your memory
that's all I'll need
Can you meet me in my dreams?
I've got too many burdens on my back
Can I just collapse, and wait for the storm to pass?
People all around me say
they love and believe me
but I don't know what I need
I have the roots
but haven't planted any seeds
I'll run
I won't stay.
Need to go
Take my heart
plant new seeds
somewhere far from who I thought I'd be.

Ode to Music

You know those songs that just speak to you? That you can physically hear the passion pouring out of their souls, even if you can't see them? Or you can see them without hearing anything, but feel their fervor? Or they may sing in a language that you don't speak, or play a style of which you're not familiar? But still, you are able to connect with the music?

That's what I love about music.

Today I was reminded of all the ways I can feel music by listening to Jeff Buckley.

I've heard a saying, "the goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will."

As much as it pains me, I know Jeff Buckley died. But, when I feel his music, I am reminded that his music lives on, and it makes me want to create something so great that it will live on after I go, too.

"Maybe I'm too young to keep good love from going wrong.."

It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday

I walked and walked and walked some more, my feet hurt beyond words. Tears began to swarm my face as I sought comfort on the shoulders of my dad. It was the rainiest day at the happiest place on earth: Disneyland. I was there for my fourth birthday, and due to what some might call "unfortunate weather" my family and I were some of the few people who decided to brave the terror. We were draped in bright yellow ponchos with the happy face of Mickey Mouse printed on the front, and even set our own personal record for how many times we slid down "Splash Mountain." I was wearing some of my favorite sandals. They were clear with straps, and though this was one of the few occasions I remember wearing them, the blisters they made on my feet created a memory that would last forever.
This is the very first memory I have.

Memory has always fascinated me. We can't choose what our first memory is, and we can't choose what will be our last. It is impossible to choose how other people remember us, and impossible for others to know how we remember them. Somewhere along the line, everything will become a memory.

I am a white, blonde-haired, blue-eyed, seventeen year-old girl. To me, everyone is equal. It is wrong to treat others any less than how you expect to be treated yourself. This being said, I try to see the other end of the spectrum. These may be my morals, but I am only able to speak for myself. I can't force people to think the way I think, and part of who I am is empathizing with others and learning how to love people I may not necessarily like. People have rights. We have the right to love, we have the right to hate. We have the opportunity to form opinions, to love, to hate, and worst of all, stay indifferent.

I try to imagine myself as the same girl I am now living in 1940 Germany. Living in the era of the Holocaust, I would be surrounded by vulgar, sociopathic people who hate, who had a passion to kill people they perceived as a lesser species, as well as (though not as many) people who loved, who had a passion to help others, and lastly, people who chose to standby and watch this all take place. If I was the same, blonde-haired, blue-eyed, seventeen year-old girl I am today, would I choose to do what was right or do what was easy? It is far too easy to look back on a time such as the Holocaust and automatically assume that the morals we have now would have withstood a time as treacherous as this. It is far too easy for a time such as the Holocaust to pass us and simply become a mere memory.

I don't believe that every blonde-haired, blue-eyed person had the moral standards of Adolf Hitler in 1940's  Germany. I believe that many of them chose to do what was easy, not what they maybe even thought was right. They chose to stay indifferent rather than simply loving, or hating. By not choosing one or the other, those who did nothing were viewed as Nazis. The majority of people who were indifferent were tossed into the minority of the Nazis, allowing the killing and torturing of millions of innocent people. By not choosing a side, they still chose a side. Indifference is not easy. It is far too easy to look at life once it becomes history, once it becomes a memory.

How do I want to be remembered? Was I someone's first memory? Will I be someone's last? What is happening around me that I can change before it becomes a memory of regret?

Today was my Grandma's funeral. I can't help but wonder what her last memory was. What memories did she still have? 84 years worth of memories, what did she remember from it all.

It's so easy to move on from things we hate because it's hard to imagine things getting any worse. We can try and block it from our memory, but we can't erase it from the past. It's so hard to move on from things we love, because we know all we will have left is a memory. Slowly all the details will fade and all we will know is how we felt at that time. That's why it's so hard to move on, to say goodbye. All we will have is the memory. The days drag but time flies. It's so, so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

Why, Why, Why?

Small questions
Big answers
Word spreads like cancer

Come back
Wont last
How's that for disaster?

Big mind
No time
Slam the door, say goodbye.

Hold back
Both cry
Why, why, why?

Rage.

If you were the ocean and I were the breeze, I'd make the waves roar to the depths of your seas.
And if you flowed into the rivers, far away from me, I'd make the birds stop soaring 'till the end of the spring
But I'm not the water and you're not the wind, I'm just a child so far from her wish.
Water and wind don't always go so well together, we've always known we were different colors, until we faded into each other.
Now we're one and the mystery is gone, I'll blow away and the oceans will rage. I will sing a song in a different key, and you'll sink into the depths of your seas.

Waves.

Don't ya know?

"Don't ya know that girls like me like boys like you?
But there's no other girl like me and there's no other boy like you."

I love imagining what people may be thinking when they give a smirk.
One of my favorite photographs of last summer. I look at it and distinctly remember smiling this very smile. I don't love it because of my pose, or because the lighting is anything to ride home about, I just love it because it makes me remember that very moment when I flashed a smile that was so genuine, and it was captured.

Our hearts all beat the same.

7 billion people and counting.
We are only two.
We are different:

She is little, I am big.
She lives here, I live there.
She rides on the back of a motorcycle, I use a car.

We're all so different, but our hearts all beat the same.

Our Corner of the Universe

I used to lay in the surf as the waves would roar onto my face.
I used dance in the rain as the down-poor created the rhythm to move.
I have always loved water, thus, these remedies have not changed.

This past Spring, I went on a trip to Belize through my school. Months of preparation, hours of classes, pool training, I was finally ready to get my scuba certification. I was excited, mostly for bragging rights of saying that I was licensed to take an oxygen tank 60 feet under water and breathe with ease. Even as I soared through the the tropical waters of the Caribbean, it didn't hit me until I was sitting at the bottom of the ocean, following my bubbles to the surface.

There is so much world.

30% of this world is land.

70% is water.

I loved scuba diving; however, at the time, I wasn't really sure why I found it to be so fascinating. Though I loved gliding through the waves with the vast amount of fish, and even with a larger than life sea-turtle, that is not what sparked my passion when thinking of my under-the-sea adventure.

30% land.
That leaves 70% of this world, that would otherwise go unnoticed.

What do I really love about scuba-diving, I mean what do I really, REALLY love about it?

I love the fact that I am free to the rest of the world.
That instead of the .0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of the universe I live in, I am open, and free, to discover the rest of the world.

I tend to forget that the world isn't confined to what we know.

The Battle Between the Heart and Mind

My heart's a thousand places at once but it's only chasing you cause it knows you're the one I love.
And don't you know it can't just stop, it goes on it's own way and makes me feel so lost.
My heart's got a mind of it's own, it doesn't love easy or like letting go.
It take a while for it It to feel at home, but when it found you my heart knew it wasn't alone.
There's a passion that I will not contain. I know I'm insane and I know I'm to blame, but you can't blame me when my heart ignores my brain.
My heart's not cliche it's one of a kind, but the person I love won't give it any time.
I ask for wisdom, a word of advice, but when people talk they talk from their mind, they don't hear their heart's or listen to mine cry.
Maybe a heart doesn't represent love, because heart's do strange things and ignore what is right.
I'm not ready to forget, but just for my heart it's time to get this burden off my chest.
I'm in love and I'm alone, I will risk it all, I've put my heart on the line.

Happy Sabbath

It is not guns that kill, people do.
It is not God that turns others away, people do.

My mom is the most spiritual person I have met. I think that part of the reason I have formed a bond with God is because of her. It took me seeing how much she loved God, and how she believed that God loves me, for me to love Him myself.

I don't understand how some call themselves Christians when they simply believe in the doctrines. They don't believe in God or love or salvation or show love to everyone, they believe that if they follow the rules, that will show they believe in God.
It is not the rules that show God you believe in Him, it is your actions.

As a child, I didn't want my friends to come to church with me. I thought it was boring and I didn't want them to meet someone so caught up in the rules that they would forever have a bitter taste in their mouths about the church. But, the church is not a place. WE are the church. God's people are the church. The church is not some place you go, it is some place you are, because the church is a place to worship God.

I don't like being titled with religion, even if I do believe in the fundamentals. I like to be titled as a "loving person" because if I show love, I show God. Sure, there are rules, and I believe that they were set in stone for good reason. Ellen White, for instance. But, you cannot take something completely out of context, latch onto one thing that is said, and expect it to have the same meaning. I believe in God. I believe in love. I don't believe that love simply evolved.

It's not the person, it's the interpretations of the people.
It's the misconceptions of interpreting religion as God.

I want people to know God.
I want to know God.

I believe in God.
I am an Adventist because it draws me closer to the people I care about love, and God is love.

All I Wanted Was For You To Love Me, And That Made Me Forget Why I Ever Started Loving You

I'm in love with who your were. and I'm sad because I don't think I will ever find someone like that again and I don't have the capacity to change you. when in reality, maybe it is not you that changed, but me. and I like myself too much to change. The picture of us was always better in my head of the way things could be, when I was blind to the way things really were. A part of me will always hold onto the person you were, but I never want to be the person I was when I was with you again. I'm perfect. You're perfect. But together, you made me crazy. You made me question who I was and who I wanted to be and that's not how it should be. But things are never how they should be. All I wanted was you to love me, as I lost sight of the reason I ever started loving you. Everything was fine until I finally reached the perfect person I had created in my head, and you still didn't want me. I guess all along we knew. But I still hope that when you glance across the room, and smile for nothing, and I smile at you, that we both know, though we didn't ever happen in the way that I spent so much time dreaming of, our souls and hearts will know that we taught each other more than we ever would have learned without each other. expectations suck. I wish I could be with you. I wish you wanted to be with me. I wish you cared. I wish you knew. It's all so complicated. You're better off without me.

How and Why

This past Friday, 27 people were shot and killed in Newtown, Connecticut at a school. 20 of them being children. 1 being the shooter. I thought this was such a terrible tragedy, but when it really hit me hard was when I looked on the news and saw the names of these kids who died, and teachers who died protecting them scroll across the screen. Suddenly each little boy and girl came alive. They became so real. It hit so close to home. My mom always taught me to always call people by name. Always, no if's, and's, or but's, you always call people by name, and each one of those people suddenly, had a name.

My brother Joseph is a very intelligent person. Among other things, he knows film and television like the back of his hand, and when it comes to asking for a valid opinion on such things, he's the first person I would go to. When I was a little girl, I used to hear rumbling's of CSI: New York coming from the other room. As soon as I would walk into the room, the pause button would quickly be pressed as my siblings looked at each other with large eyes wondering how to go about saying that this wasn't a television show that I would be allowed to see. Sometimes I would stay and pretend like I was covering my eyes, but look through the cracks of my fingers, I was very sneaky. With that being said, this wasn't an entirely regular occurrence. Believe me, we had our share of "G" rated films and Anne of Green Gables, which are equally as fulfilling, but there was on occasion times where Prison Break, or 24, or in this case CSI: New York was on and due to my mother's keen sense of judgement, my presence would not be seen at these screenings. Of course they would have happily put on something that both of us could see, but I wanted to see what they were seeing. I wanted to grow up. I wanted to know what the rumbling was about.
As the years passed, and I grew, and the novel idea of me being able to watch more television and movies that weren't so childish with my siblings felt more and more real. Eventually, it became a non-existent worry of mine. Time went on, and my freshman year I moved in with Joseph, his wife Becca, my niece Magdelana, my nephew Johannes, and my other brother Jeremy. This was one of the most delightful years I have ever lived. We had some of the greatest times imaginable, including rituals of a television show each night, one of which being "Lie To Me," a crime show based on the micro-expressions of people. I hadn't thought about CSI: NY in quite sometime, but de ja vu hit me, and I asked Joseph why we never watched that show nowadays. He explained to me something that was very important. He explained to me that in television, there can be a "how" or a "why" and that CSI: NY was a "how."(in much more eloquent terms, of course.)
It occurred to me that "why" questions are much more difficult to answer. Of course, I do find it interesting at what rate the car hit the pole, crushing the victim and not allowing oxygen to the brain, and eventually suffocating. The math, the logic, the numbers. Everything makes sense. Everything adds up. Every question has an answer and every answer a reason to back that answer up. It is when you start asking yourself why. Why? Why did the victim go out that late at night? Why did he not say goodbye? Why did he tell no one where he was going? Why was he alone? At this point you can only guess your best logic. With each question comes another question, and with each answer comes a series more.
Maybe that is why I enjoy crime shows. Because they give answers to all of the "why" questions that go through my head. They make all of these unanswerable questions make sense.

I know what happened in Newtown, Connecticut this past Friday. 27 people died. I can tell you how one man shot and took the lives of 27 people including himself. I can tell you which room he went to first. I can tell you his plan. I can state all of the facts. All of the statistics. I can tell you exactly how this happened. What I cannot tell you is why. Why did he kill 26 people? Why did he not get the help that he needed beforehand? Why did he take it out on children?

The questions are endless

The answers are nonexistent.

Emily Wilkens once came to preach at PAA for a week of prayer. She said, that once you start asking yourself "why" and come up with no answers, you have to ask yourself, "what now?"

I don't want to think of right now, I don't want to take action now, all I seem to want to do is want to think of Charlotte, Daniel, Rachel, Olivia, Josephine, Ana, Dylan, Dawn, Madeleine, Catherine, Chase,  Jesse, James, Grace, Anne, Emilie, Jack, Noah, Caroline, Jessica, Avielle, Lauren, Mary, Victoria, Banjamin and Allison, those 26 victims each with a name and how life is too short if you're 100, let alone 6! I don't want to think of right now. I want to go forward, or go back. I am sitting, right here, knowing that I am absolutely incapable of bringing life into those 26 people again. That is all I want to do, that one thing I can't.

"How"does play and important role, though. How can I ask myself "what now?" When I ask that it is the first step toward moving on, toward accepting the facts, and that it even happend. What can I do in my community to make this world a better place? How can I hold my trust in God? How can I show others God? Because there comes a point when there are no answers to the why's or the how's or the what's or the who's, and all that's left is God. There is no explanation. Why would I want to answer these questions, because that just justifies the questions? I don't want "Why did he kill 26 people?" to ever be a normal question. How can I feel sympathy for the shooter who killed these people, and then was selfish enough to kill himself? How is it possible to believe in God, but not love all of his children? I cannot believe in a loving God, without possessing love to even the most un-loveable people.

That's a very hard concept for me.

Dear God,
Please be with the family's and victims of Newtown.
Help give me understanding, and to remember that this hurts you so much.
Help this world be a better place.
Help me know how to serve you. To not do things for myself, but to bring glory to you.
Help my actions not be my actions, but yours through me.
Help me be more like you.
Thank you, God.
Amen.

please come soon.

The Art To Getting By

When at first you try but you don't succeed
When everyone's telling you who to be and what to feel
When you stand up in a fight but you're still the bad guy
When it doesn't seem like you are gonna make it through the night

Oh darling let me teach you there's an art to getting by
I know life sucks I'm the first to tell you
but you gotta turn the other cheek and smile
turn the other cheek and smile

When you got so many maps but you still don't know where to go
When they say you you've had enough time, you should know
When you have a plan but it's not what you want
When you say you're in love and they tell you you're not

When it doesn't seem like you'll make it through the night
It's not worth this fight I'm fighting in

Oh darling let me teach you there's an art to getting by
I know life sucks I'm the first to tell you
but at least you can say you tried

Oh darling let me teach you there's an art to getting by
I know life sucks I'm the first to tell you
but you gotta turn the other cheek and smile
turn the other cheek and smile

L.A.

Gonna start this home from the roots
Never thought I'd lose you
Gonna follow those city lights
Call me a dreamer but it's worth a fight

Easier said than done
Well I learned my lesson
There's no easy way out
and I found out the hard way

Is this a heartbreak
You still make my heart race
This is a hard place
to be
Someone guide me
I'm still fighting
No I'm lying
but you can't fix me

I want to go to L.A.
Take the Max or the Subway
Maybe I just had a bad day but,
I'm already here

I thought I left you far away from here
But you've still followed me through all these years
Three thousand miles away
I'm still choked up with no words to say

I'm searching for someone to replace
Someone to calm this rage
I'm all alone on this quest
We all know I got a few things I gotta get off my chest

Is this a heartbreak
You still make my heart race
This is a hard place
to be
Someone guide me
I'm still fighting
No I'm lying
but you can't fix me

I want to go to L.A.
Take the Max or the Subway
Maybe I just had a bad day but,
I'm already here

You call me with your touch, I'm too young for love, I'm too young
I'm too young for love
You call me with your touch, I'm too young for love, I'm too young
I'm just too young for love

Is this a heartbreak
You still make my heart race
This is a hard place
to be
Someone guide me
I'm still fighting
No I'm lying
but you can't fix me

I want to go to L.A.
Take the Max or the Subway
Maybe I just had a bad day but,
I'm already here

I guess maybe I jumped the gun
You know I still need to learn a few lessons
I'm stranded in this foreign land
Moving on holding a stranger's hand

This is a heartbreak
Cause you still make my heart race
This is a very hard place to be
No one can guide me
Cause I'm not fighting
No I'm not lying
You can't fix me

Here's What It's Like On The Inside of My Soul

You can't possess love if you try
I'm no angel, but I still like to fly
One fear falls, I can't wipe it away
Just let it fall
'Till I got words to say

Say I'm gonna be happy
Say I'm gonna learn
Search through everybody but I still get hurt

Here's what it's like on the inside of my soul
Ask me no more questions, there's no more you need to know
Dust the corners of my heart, the child in me has grown old
Here's what it's like on the inside of my soul

If I sing loud enough you'll here no voice
I'm screaming in your ear, you've left me no choice
An angel told me once, "guard your gold and shoot your gun.
Love your God and hold him dear, but don't love anyone."

Say I'm gonna be happy
Say I'm gonna learn
Search through everybody but I'm still hurt

Here's what it's like on the inside of my soul
Ask me no more questions, there's no more you need to know
Dust the corners of my heart, the child in me has grown old
Here's what it's like on the inside of my soul

How sad of you to go without saying goodbye
You left me angry, crying
At least I can say I tried
How sad of you to leave without shedding a tear
You got a taste of the ice that burns my bones
Smile for the cameras that's the smile that you know

Here's what it's like on the inside of my soul
Ask me no more questions, there's no more you need to know
Dust the corners of my heart, the child in me has grown old
Here's what it's like on the inside of my soul
